மட்டன் காரக்கறி/Mutton Kaarakari


Mutton - 1/2 kg(chop it into small pieces)
Chilli Powder - 2 tspn
Oil - 3 tbsp
salt for taste

For Grinding

Ginger - 2"
Garlic - 6 pods
pepper - 2 tspn
cumin - 1 tspn
aniseed - 1 tspn(sombu in tamil)
coconut - 1/2 cup
small onion -50 gm

For garnishing

coriander leaves -few(finely chopped)
fried cashew nuts-few
  1. Grind all  the ingredients into paste using a spice blender.
  2. Heat oil in a kadaai add the paste to it.
  3. Fry till the raw smell goes off.
  4. Then add chilli powder fry for 2,3 minutes and add the mutton pieces to it.
  5. Stir well and cook for sometime.
  6. Add salt ,sprinkle water to it and make sure that mutton is well cooked.
  7. cook till all the water evaporates and serve hot.    
  8. garnish with chopped coriander leaves and fried cashews.
